About
My full name is William Reid von Gunten — I go by Reid. I started in international business, stumbled into software development in college, and never looked back. What I discovered along the way — first in higher education, then scaling remax.com with an incredible team at booj, then taking Drata through hypergrowth — is that my real passion isn't the code. It's the people.
Building teams where engineers aren't just a line item. Where having fun and shipping great software aren't in conflict. Where experienced engineers are given the trust, autonomy, and culture to build something they're proud of. That's what gets me up in the morning.
I hold a Master's in Information Systems Technology Management, which gave me the language to bridge business strategy and engineering execution — a skill I rely on every day leading 120+ engineers as VP of Engineering at Drata. I also speak Spanish and Portuguese — and this site is available in both.
